Sealants & Adhesives
TERRASIL® CATALYST series Tin Catalysts and Crosslinkers are used to adjust curing time and pot life, as well as to improve mechanical strenghts and adhesion promotion in product formulations. Both polyurethane (PU) and silicone based (RTV) product formulations are common applications in both 2-component and 1-component systems.
Biofuels & Synthetic Lubricants
Seeking high yield and minimal side reactions, manufacturers prefer to use TERRASIL® CATALYST curing agents to esterify the monomeric esters used for biofuels and synthetic lubricants. Offered in solid and liquid forms, they can be distilled or filtered from the finished products.
Paints & Coatings
TERRASIL® CATALYST curing agents are widely used in coatings, both for making resins and enhancing the cure of the final product based on resin systems, such as polyester resins, alkyd resins, polyurethanes, epoxy resins, hybrids and polysiloxane/epoxy hybrids, and electrophoretic coatings (e-coat).
Elastomer
TARRASIL® CATALYST curing agents are used to vary the speed of crosslinking for polyurethanes (PUR, TPU, TPE) and for silicones (SI, Q, VMQ).
Polyester Foam
From mattresses to insulation, polyurethane foams are made from reacting polyether polyols or polyester polyols with isocyanate in the presence of a catalyst and tertiary amine. TERRASIL® CATALYST curing agents are very effective for foam production.
Plasticizer
TERRASIL® CATALYST curing agents are used to manufacture phthalate esters, in particular dioctyl phthalate (DIOP) esters. These high molecular weight phthalate esters are used as plasticizers in a wide variety of end uses from enteric coatings of pharmaceuticals, to viscosity control agents, film formers, suspending agents, personal-care products, and soft plastics.
Unsaturated Polyester Resin & Composite
TERRASIL® CATALYST curing agents are ideal for the manufacture of polyester resin based composite materials. They enhance the product qualities in terms of mechanical, chemical, thermal and electrical streghths and provide well balancing of the curing time and pot life.
